The island has beautiful private gardens and every store seems to have color coordinated bouquets that look like they were just picked from a backyard.
With crisp, salty, pine-scented breezes, the island was ideal while we visited. Okay, it rained once, but that was a nice change from the scorching weather we'd come from in Southern California.
This beautiful face belongs to Tasha. She is a Vizsla, a dog breed from Hungary. The Vizsla is a hunter with an excellent nose and they are known for being easy to train and eager to please. Vizsla have a gentle manner and are affectionate and sensitive. Tasha was well behaved, smart (she knows when her buddy Cayman is coming to visit!), fun and a great companion.
Although it was August and my sweet peas were a distant memory, our cousin's were thriving. I picked some for our bedside ~ nothing like waking up to smell sweet peas and their honey-vanilla scent.
Heliotrope is another gorgeously scented personal favorite, their puckered leaves always add texture in a garden
This photo doesn't show how incredible the perennial bed is, but you can see the Puget Sound is across the street. Nice backdrop, right?
Here is a close-up of the perennial bed. The bed is skirted in a romantic layer of golden oregano. Campanula, dahlias, foxgloves and all sorts of blooming treasure are melded into a floral tapestry.
The lilies happily mingle with country daisies and bright yellow yarrow.
The guest house is cloaked with hops and a towering yellow lily and brilliant dahlias guard the Dutch door.
